Roger Bennington’s passion for motorsport stretches back to the 1960s, when he spent his early years competing in Autocross and making regular pilgrimages to legendary circuits such as Le Mans, Spa and the old Nürburgring.
In 1972, Roger purchased what is now Stratton Motor Company (Norfolk) Ltd—then known as Harvey and Duffield—marking the beginning of an intense period of business growth that temporarily drew him away from competition.
By the late 1970s and early 1980s, he returned to motorsport through rallying, initially with his own Group 4 TR7 V8. His success in the car led to an offer of a works car, where he achieved exceptional results and multiple wins.
Roger then broadened his motorsport involvement to include single-venue tarmac events, which soon progressed into racing. He competed in the Snetterton 24 Hours and frequently partnered with racing legend Gerry Marshall. His move into this style of racing included campaigning an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which became increasingly competitive.
This progression led Roger into supporting other competitors, and he founded Heritage Racing Support Ltd. Over the years, the team managed and prepared numerous Aston Martins for clients—including DB4s, DB6s and V8’s—regularly returning to Spa to contest the Six Hours in the DB4 GT.

Recognising the growing appetite for historic racing, Roger expanded further into organising track days and race series, establishing the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge. The series gained significant popularity and often featured as a support race alongside the British Touring Car Championship.
Building on this momentum, Roger formed Stratton Motorsport, acquiring new Aston Martin GT4s to run across the UK and Europe. The operation grew into a respected and successful motorsport entity. Along the way, Roger also ran a couple of Group C cars, including the Aston Martin Nimrod Chassis No.05, which he raced with Ray Mallock, who originally drove the car at Le Mans.
Most recently, Stratton Motorsport has acquired the assets of Forsetti Motorsport and entered a new joint venture with GBR Motorsport. Beginning in 2026, the combined force—GBR Stratton Motorsport—will compete in the British GT Championship, marking an exciting new chapter built on decades of heritage, engineering excellence and competitive success.
What began as a dream shared by two brothers with limited funding and boundless ambition has grown into Scotland’s most successful single-seater racing team.
With deep roots in the world of Formula Ford, Graham Brunton Racing has spent over two decades developing talent, winning championships and becoming a cornerstone of British motorsport.
In 2000, the team welcomed its first customer car. From the outset, GBR proved highly competitive, and over the next two decades, it expanded to operate as many as nine cars at a time. With consistent success, GBR became the foundation of junior single-seater racing in Scotland. Since 2000, we have expanded to race nationally in Formula Ford and, in recent years, have been competing in the GB4 Series.
